debit card
55Debit card uptakes are receiving a boost in popularity lately, as more and more people try to free themselves from the strangles of debt, and move into a more controllable future.
One way you can achieve this is by ripping up your credit card, and getting your self a debit card. The names may sound very alike, however the outcomes are far from it. These two are poles apart in the way they work and how they benefit you.
Lets look at the benefits and differences of the debit card.
For one, the main difference is that a debit card works in a similar way to your bank account eftpos card or bank card. You simply use it upto the point where funds in the account run out. Youve got to have a positive amount of funds in it to keep using it.
Secondly, where it differs from the eftpos card or bank card, is that you can use it online, over the phone and allow others to use it, much in the same way as a credit card can. This gives you unprecedented ability to shop and purchase online, spending your own money, not the credit card companies!
Where it differs from the dredit card, is that your debit card wont run up a debt to the card company. It declines when the funds on it, reach zero. This means you can only ever spend your money! Its a great way to stay out of debt, and ensure your only spending your own funds.
This also means that its much harder to rack up costs, such as interest, late payment fess and other credit card charges, as your only dealing with money you have. Not the banks!
The other great bonus is that its much much easier to get a debit card over a credit card, because the bank is not lending you money on it, so the criteria for acceptance are virtually nil. You wont need to give away personal information or details, and the other great thing is that fraud risks are virtually non exisitant, unless you have huge amounts on your debit card!
What I like to do, is to transfer funds onto my debit card using internet banking, if I know im about to make a large payment or purchase on my debit card. This way I can be sure that my risk of fraud is low if I keep my day to day balances on the debit card low.
Do yourself a financial favour today, and get hold of a debit card!
